In 2011, Wesley undergraduates Brett Sansbury (biological chemistry major) and Olivia Hampton (biology major) began their EPSCoR/INBRE supported summer internship in chemistry under the direction of Dr. Malcolm J. D’Souza, professor of chemistry. They completed their project analyzing a fungicidal para-substituted aryl thiocarbamate analog in Spring 2012.
Their work is now published in the open access peer-reviewed Journal of Chemistry. The recent NSF ARRA sponsored renovated undergraduate research laboratory and cold room were significant additions, as the students were able to work with sulfur compounds. Sansbury and Hampton continue to work on other chemistry projects.
