Wesley College and the Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) hosted the fourth annual Beekeeping 101 Seminar, a one-day intensive program for anyone interested in the art and science of beekeeping on January 26.
The Delaware Beekeepers Association (DBA) created the event to help both beginners and veterans learn how to care for bees, and harvest honey. Ninety students attended the workshop that included presentations by a variety of experts in the field. Lectures topics included honey bee biology, how to inspect a colony, and using technology to monitor colonies. Wesley professors Kathleen Curran and Joe Nicolai spoke as well as Delaware State Apiarist Meghan McConnell and the DBA officers.
