Subject: Delaware State University (DSU) – Wesley College (WC) Acquisition – UPDATE #2

I hope this note finds everyone safe and well. It is with a heavy heart, and quite frankly, a sense of dismay, that I write to inform you that the Delaware State University (DSU) Leadership has decided not to continue with a DIII Athletic program at our College following the acquisition.

Despite the unrelenting efforts over the past several months by members of our Board’s Executive Committee, our College Leadership Team, members of our Partnership Advisory Group (PAG), along with consultation from senior leadership at the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and the NCAA, that clearly showed the validity of a DIII Athletic program, DSU made their decision and we must now focus our efforts forward.

We are committed to ensuring, as best as we can, that our coaches, staffs, and student-athletes will be able to enjoy a full Spring of competition, while also working diligently to place them all at institutions that are compatible with their desires, abilities, and aligned with the legacy of excellence that has been the hallmark of the Wesley College Athletics experience. Additionally, DSU has committed to honor and cherish Wesley College Athletics’ proud tradition, and plans are being made to ensure that our campus will be the focal point of that legacy.

All The Best & Go Wolverines!
