Simpson, Williams named NJAC Players of the Week

Wesley College junior wide receiver/kick returner Corterris Simpson and sophomore linebacker Nazir Williams were named New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Players of the Week for their performance in No. 6 Wesley’s 28-7 win over Southern Virginia on Saturday.

Williams earns NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after tallying a team-high 12 tackles, including three solo stops. He also garnered a tackle for a loss, a forced fumble, and two pass breakups in a defensive performance which saw Wesley hold the SVU offense scoreless for the final three quarters of the game. Williams currently leads the NJAC in forced fumbles (2).

Simpson picked up NJAC Special Teams Player of the Week laurels after averaging 42.3 yards per punt return on four attempts, including an 80-yard fourth quarter punt return touchdown for Wesley’s final points of the game. He also contributed offensively with 12 yards from scrimmage on one rush and one reception. Simpson currently leads the NJAC in punt return average (35.1).
