Commencement Information

Baccalaureate

The College’s Spring Commencement activities will begin with Baccalaureate at the Schwartz Center for the Arts, located at 226 South State Street, Dover, DE.  19901 at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2019. Participation in the service is encouraged but not required. No gowns, caps, or hoods are worn at this event.

Nursing Pinning Ceremony

The Nursing Pinning Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Schwartz Center for the Arts located at 226 South State Street, Dover, DE.  19901. Tickets are required for entry. All guests are requested to be seated by 6:50 pm so that seniors can process without hindrance. Photographer will begin BSN formal portraits at 430 pm. Master of Occupational Therapy Pinning Ceremony

The MOT pinning ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in Slaybaugh Hall (Wells Theater) located at the Main Campus, 120 North State Street, Dover, Delaware, 19901. For questions, please email arnelle.hughes@wesley.edu .

Commencement

The Commencement Ceremony will be Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 1:30 in the Dashiell Amphitheatre in front of the H.B. DuPont College Center.  A reception will follow on the front lawn. No tickets are needed for the outdoor ceremony. Please note the ceremony will be held outdoors unless there is dangerous weather (thunder or lighting).

In the case of weather that would prohibit having commencement outdoors, we have reserved the auditorium at Central Middle School in Dover located at 211 Delaware Avenue, Dover, Delaware, 19901.  Tickets will be used only if we have to move the ceremony indoors.  The number of tickets will be limited to two (2) per graduate due to limited seating in the auditorium.  We will post any change of venue on the College website the day before Commencement.  On Commencement day, Candidates are asked to arrive promptly at 12:00 p.m. to the Wentworth Gymnasium in the College Center.  Those arriving after 1 p.m. will not be able to process.

Alumni Representatives and Student Marshals will be present to provide instructions. For the Commencement ceremony, State Street in front of the College will be closed beginning at 1:00 p.m. and will remain closed until the conclusion of ceremony. Please note there are other events around the Dover area on this day and traffic will be heavier than normal, please plan accordingly. Please use Governors Avenue and park in any of the parking areas on the west side of the campus.

We encourage you to participate in this memorable occasion; if you need special accommodations, please notify the Academic Affairs office at (302) 736-2352 or heeshtin@wesley.edu .   The day of the ceremony, Security will have officers placed in parking areas and will direct you to parking to accommodate persons with special needs upon request.

Participation in Absentia

Any individual who is not able to participate in the ceremony may email heeshtin@wesley.edu  and request permission to receive the degree in absentia. All requests will receive a written response from the Academic Affairs office.

Cap and Gown Pick up

Pick up of caps, gowns from the Barnes and Noble Bookstore located on the ground floor in the College Center can begin on Monday, April 29, 2019.

Please be sure to check your “MyWesley” account to be sure there are no holds on your account that could prohibit you from picking up your cap and gown.  Holds would be due to unpaid funds owed to the College or not completing your “Exit Survey” with your financial aid institute.
