Wesley College junior mathematics major Riza Bautista and senior biological chemistry major Dionne Williams have both received an undergraduate tuition award of $3,000 from the NASA Delaware Space Grant College Program (DESGC). This program annually grants awards to highly qualified students studying at a DESGC Consortium institution in the areas of science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and geography.
Recipients of the award have excelled in their STEM field of study, are involved in undergraduate research under the direction of a STEM faculty member and do research that falls within the scope of NASA’s interests. The award is effective for the 2015-16 school year, but is eligible to be renewed competitively for a second year.
As a condition of the award, Bautista and Williams will attend the Annual Symposium of the Delaware Space Grant Consortium in spring 2016. At the meeting, they will learn about the various activities that are being supported throughout the state by the Delaware Space Grant and will be presented with a certificate in recognition of receiving the tuition award.
