Wesley College biological chemistry junior Victor DeBarros II, presented his NSF-EPSCoR supported undergraduate research at the 23rd National NSF-EPSCoR Conference in Nashville, TN, November 3-7. DeBarros’s research project highlighted Delaware’s research contribution in the EPSCoR jurisdictions. His project, completed under the direction of Dr. Malcolm J. D’Souza, professor of chemistry, analyzed nitrogen (a key nutrient in chlorophyll) in a class of organic compounds called carbamoyl chlorides that are primarily used as chemical intermediates in patented herbicidal, fungicidal, and pesticide applications. Participation in this conference was made possible by the support of the DE-NSF-EPSCoR (EPS-0814251) grant.
