Members of the Wesley Society and their guests gathered on the evening of February 10th for a reception and dinner at Maple Dale Country Club as a way for the College to celebrate and recognize their generous support and showcase some of the students that benefit from their generosity.
“We are truly grateful to the Wesley Society, Legacy Circle, and our local community,” said Wesley College President Robert E. Clark II. “Their steadfast support of our students, and College is making a difference in changing lives and helping to transform our community.”
The seventh annual event was offered to Wesley Society and Legacy Circle members as an appreciation event, and the costs were fully underwritten by eight individual and corporate sponsors. The generous sponsors included Becker Morgan Group, David ’95, ’99, M’07 and Kelly Blaeuer, i.g. Burton, Scott and Kim Connell/Merrill Lynch, L & W Insurance Agency, MSK Partners, Inc., Mutual of America, and National Management Resources Corporation.
Current Wesley College students played an integral part in the event. During the reception, guests were able to mingle and meet several outstanding students who were selected to share their campus activities and scholastic accomplishments outlined on posters.
Vicki Gordy-Stith, Dover District Superintendent at Peninsula-Delaware Conference of The United Methodist Church, a member of the Wesley College Board of Trustees, and President of the Wesley Society, served as Mistress of Ceremony for the event program. The evening’s featured speakers were Wesley College students Ed Brandenburg ’17 from Hartland, WI, Kevin Charles Johnson II ’17 from Hanover, MD, and Courtney Gross ’17 from Newark, DE. Each of them shared the impact scholarships and Wesley had on them as a student.
During the program, more than 130 guests were treated to vocal performances by students Alana Walker accompanied by Wesley College Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choir Dr. James Wilson on keyboard.
