Wesley College Professor of Chemistry Dr. Malcolm J. D’Souza was featured in International Innovation, a magazine devoted to disseminating science, research and technology information. D’Souza explains the decade-long transformation that a National Centre for Research Resources (NCRR) grant has driven, creating a dynamic and exciting environment where research drives undergraduate teaching for student benefit.
“The grant money from NCRR has helped Wesley enrich our STEM programs and open doors to undergraduates that didn’t exist previously,” D’Souza said. “The funds give them invaluable research opportunities that prepare them for advance degrees as well as the workforce.”
The partnerships created and maintained with Wesley, University of Delaware, Delaware State University and Delaware Tech have produced more than 50 undergraduate co-authored peer-reviewed publications.
International Innovation is the leading global dissemination resource for the wider scientific, technology and research communities, dedicated to disseminating the latest science, research and technological innovations on a global level. More information and a complimentary subscription offer to the publication can be found at: www.researchmedia.eu
D’Souza has published 72 peer-reviewed journal articles, has more than 250 abstracts in conference proceedings and has established a nationally recognized Wesley College Undergraduate Directed Research Program in Chemistry. He recently received the American Chemical Society’s (ACS) 2012 E. Emmett Reid Award which recognizes high-quality teaching in chemistry at small colleges in the ACS Mid-Atlantic region.
