Sharon Wong

Assistant Professor for Master's of Occupational Therapy

Why I Teach

I have always loved to learn and my focus is to instill that passion into others. I feel strongly about the value of the role of occupational therapy in both healthcare and wellness settings. I am excited and proud to teach new students the foundational skills needed to be outstanding occupational therapists. I enjoy collaborating with students, learning from them, and sharing the knowledge I have gained in my years of experience.

Professional Activities

Areas of Expertise: Neurological rehabilitation, orthopedics, hand therapy, orthotics, geriatrics, home health, acute care

I am currently an assistant professor of Occupational Therapy at Wesley College. I have over seventeen years of experience as an occupational therapist. For the first five years of my career, I worked in acute care rehabilitation with individuals who had orthopedic and neurological injuries. I then transitioned to the ICU setting as well as gaining experience in home health and skilled nursing. Over the past nine years my focus has been on hand therapy in the outpatient setting and I have been a certified hand therapist for four years. I have enjoyed teaching fieldwork students during my years as a therapist, and I am continually learning myself. I will be finishing up my doctoral work in occupational therapy in May of 2018 with a focus on adult education and self-regulated learning.
